SPARK [FWD] 2014 is coming Feb 5-9th 2014. Featuring topics in Stereoscopic 3D, VFX & Advanced Imaging. Passes now on sale.

SPARK [FWD] is a multi-day event consisting of a conference that brings world-class speakers to Vancouver on the topics of advanced imaging, visual effects and stereoscopic 3D. The film festival includes fan favourite classics and new Hollywood releases, and also a stereoscopic 3D short film program. The event also includes two days of job fair to help job seekers and recruiters connect, and a workshop series that compliments the conference sessions. This even is co-organized by the S3D Centre at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and the Spark CG Society. See more on the event page!

Film Festival

We are really excited to bring you a 3D Film Festival of old and new classics! Here is your chance to see House of Wax 3D (1953), The Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D (1954), The Wizard of Oz 3D (1939) for the first time in cinema! In case you missed it last year, we’ll have Academy Award nominated films Gravity 3D (2013), Pacific Rim 3D (2013) and classic Jurassic Park 3D (1993). We are also having a short film program consisting of international films, and don’t miss our sole 2D feature 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). Full lineup and tickets are available online.

 

Opening Film Festival Keynote announced!

“From Fan to Filmmaker” presentation with Michael Uslan, Executive Producer of “Batman”  follows the industry mixer. The evening will close with a silver anniversary screening of Tim Burton’s “Batman.” Michael Uslan went from “Batman” fan to “Batman” film rights owner! Uslan has been an integral part of the films, executive producing all of the film adaptations including 1989′s “Batman” and, most recently, Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Trilogy.” Mr. Uslan will follow-up his presentation with a book signing of his memoir “The Boy Who Loved Batman”.
